Two thousand fifty nine is the luckiest number

In 2005, a young Jessica Lunsford was raped and murdered in Florida by a previously convicted sex offender. This spark already brewing outrage on repeat offenders and the cost it is having on our youth in this country. This atrocious crime also gave the birth to a new law: Jessica's Law.

Jessica Lunsford Act; revises sexual
predator criteria; requires twice yearly reregistration by sexual
predators; provides criminal offenses for failing to reregister, failing
to respond to address verification, failing to report or providing false
information about sexual predator, & harboring or concealing sexual
predator; requires electronic monitoring for certain offenders placed on
conditional release supervision, etc.

In addition, the law also requires a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years for the first offense against a child. In the internet age where predators can meet young children online and coerce them into a face to face meeting, this tough law should be a no-brainer with any state legislature and governor.

Only 10 states in the country have no form of Jessica's Law on the books. And if you were asking yourself if New Jersey is one of them, you will not be shocked to know that we are. A simple law requiring the worst of the worst criminals in our society to register with a directory and be thrown in jail for 25 years is not a priority for our leaders. This is another example of our state leaders failing us for their own agenda.

Two thousand fifty nine is the lucky number for New Jersey. In our small state of 7,468 square miles no matter where you live you and your kids are not far from a convicted sexual predator. Above is just a map of Hoboken and the surrounding area with colored dots for sex offenders (the map of Manhattan only shows schools, not offenders). Hoboken is where Governor Corzine says he is from. I wonder if Corzine and Carla Katz had any children this map would be more significant to them. Over 140 convicted predators in the smallest county in the state! Not even rich private school children are shielded from these facts.

Overwhelmingly, Americans support tough penalties for the worst offenders. It makes sense that our representatives in Trenton turn the cold shoulder. Jon Corzine and the Democrats in Trenton have outlawed the death penalty, raised sales taxes, lowered municipal aid, failed to act on illegal immigration and plotted to sell our roads, all against the majority of citizens in this state. There is no reason we will be able to count on them to protect us against a sexual predator offending again.

Our "representatives" are paid by US, THE PEOPLE. Citizens of New Jersey can not afford to sit by while laws and taxes are being passed that are not in our best interest. Those in Trenton continue to fail us and continue to look out for special interests over the average family. Those are are outraged are most likely too busy to protest in the streets like many on the far-left but please take a few minutes of your time to write or call your representatives. And tell your friends or co-workers to do the same. Common sense legislation like Jessica's Law reach across party lines and protect us all. Our representatives need common sense.

Hudson County Democrats Campaign on Deception

As you know, the Republican Party organization is almost obsolete in Hudson County thanks to Chairman Jose Arango. Mr. Arango, an employee of Jersey City Mayor and Hudson County Democrat Organization boss Jerramiah Healy, must work tirelessly to make sure no Republicans are on the ballot in any election and the HCRO has no real organization throughout the county. The Democrats owe this man a great deal of gratitude and a big "Thanks, Jose!"

If the Republican Party under Jose wasn't contributing money to Democrat races I would think a good place to make some noise would be in the City of Bayonne. Bayonne has a special Mayoral election this November. Joe Doria or "Sweaty Balls" Joey D, as he is so adamantly referred to in circles around the city, did his best to run Bayonne into the ground by raising taxes and turning the newly acquired goldmine, the Peninsula at Bayonne Harbor into a disaster while still managing to run the city into millions of dollars in deficits. But, Democrat machine spoke 2 years ago and allowed Doria to be reelected and he promised to serve out his term as Mayor.

As the problems in Bayonne continued to get significantly worse, Doria jumped ship. Governor Corzine offered him the post of Commissioner of the Department of Community Affairs (what does this patronage job do and why wasn't this office cut in the 09 budget?).

One of Doria's major achievements as Mayor was appointing Detective Mark Smith to acting Police Director. Meanwhile Smith would take go back and forth taking a leave of absence from his Director post to climb up the ladder from Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, in what must of been record time of 9 years. Whatever politician games must of been played over the last decade show old Hudson County is alive and well. Doria even took his quest to have Mark Smith in charge of the whole Bayonne Police Department to the state legislature. Doria, in his role as State Senator, introduced bill S2359 that would have permitted Smith to leapfrog the Deputy Chiefs in the BPD and become Chief. What did Mark Smith do to deserve this kind of treatment and what is expected of him in return?

Fast forward to the present. Doria's down in Trenton and his pal Mark Smith is running for Mayor of Bayonne (I am not quite sure what post he is taking a leave of absence while he runs). Mark Smith is campaigning on "Change for Bayonne". Now if change means Doria's county party organization money and surrounding yourself with Doria aides then I'll be voting for Barack Obama in November.

The Hudson County Democrat Organization must really be betting again on the stupidity of the people. Campaigns in Hudson County are campaigns of deception. The HCDO is betting on 2008 being no different and I am sure they are going to be counting on the solid leadership of Jose Arango to work tirelessly for them. It is only up to former judge and Mayoral candidate Pat Conaghan to expose the trickery Bayonne residents have been subject to for the past 10 years.

When will gas prices be too high?

In a time where uncertainty and scarcity are most prevailant in today's society, New Jersey's representatives continue to oppose common sense measures that bolster American security. For decades we have known about the problem of oil. In the 60s and 70s we only imported 30% of oil and now in 2008 we can barely muster producing 30%.

In 1981, the United States placed a ban on offshore drilling to appease coastline states and environmental groups. Now we are paying the price. According to Minerals Management Service Offshore Minerals Management Program For the U.S. Congress, 18.92 billion barrels of oil lay offshore. The Outer Continental Shelf is the area starting 3-9 nautical miles off the coast all the way out to 200 nautical miles. Some analysts say we could see oil in less than 10 years.

Gasoline nationwide is averaging $4.07 and barrels of crude have gone up to $142. China, Mexico, Brazil, Norway, Russia, and Cuba are all going to be drilling off our coast. Meanwhile, our representatives are pushing for more subsidies for corn and mandating we use mercury lightbulbs. Our beloved New Jersey representatives, minus Scott Garrett (kudos), have yet to recognize that for some, the cost of filling up their gas tank is more than a days pay. Pushing for alternative energy fueled vehicles and counting on those who can't afford to purchase a full tank of gas to be able to buy into new, unproven technology is irresponsible.

Thirteen years ago President Clinton vetoed the ANWR bill that would of allowed drilling in land the size of Dulles Airport. The reason? It would take 10 years to begin seeing production. Thirteen years later, we are in a gasoline crisis and those million barrels a day we could be seeing from Alaska are still underground.

Alternative energy is great but we can not allow politicians to use the same arguement as they used in 1995 for the next 10 years while Americans choose whether to put food on the table or fill up their gas tanks. Our New Jersey representatives must put their constituents first and the environmental lobby second and our Republican leaders must educate our citizens on the urgency of the situation.
